VeChain - Neukom Institute Blockchain Research CFP

The Neukom Institute for Computational Science is delighted to be able to announce that through the generosity of the company VeChain, the NICS now has available $40,000 to support research across the campus and professional schools related to blockchain technology and its applications. The focus of the proposals must be relevant to blockchain and its uses, and preference goes to seeding new work that uses platforms such as the open-access VeChain thor.

The available funding can be used to fund one or more projects, so as to spend out the funding. Grants are open to all Dartmouth faculty, of any rank, including the undergraduate, graduate and the professional schools. Proposal submissions will include a research proposal, a CV for the PI, and a budget. The successful proposal will be selected by a small faculty committee; the NICS reserves the right to make no awards if it is deemed no proposals meet the thematic goals of the CFP. There is an expectation that the grants will produce a working paper that would be posted on the Institute web site and that the paper will acknowledge VeChain's funding support. There are no other expectations from supported projects and any research developments are subject to all the usual Dartmouth College regulations with no additional strings attached to VeChain.

Deadline for proposals: March 22, 2020.

  • Proposals should be at most two pages (including references).
  • CVs of all investigators need to be included or linked to.
  • Budgets should be included on a separate page with a limit of a request for $40,000.
  • Any granted funds need to be spent out within one year.
  • Grantees are expected to produce a brief final report detailing accomplishments enabled by the grant.
